My kids always ask for pancakes for breakfast, or breakfast for dinner, but it's few and far between when this actually gets to happen. However, IHOP serves breakfast all day so I thought it would be fun to take the kids to try their new The Elf on the Shelf menu. I gave them a little advanced notice that we would head to IHOP for dinner once their chores were done (don't judge me, some casual encouragement never hurt anyone) and my 6 year old happened to catch their most recent commercial on TV that features The Elf on the Shelf. I agreed that if he finished all of his chores, he could get an "elf meal" at IHOP when we go. He was SO excited
The Elf on the Shelf Menu
Our local IHOP locations are celebrating the holidays by welcoming The Elf on the Shelf with some magical new menu items! These are holiday-themed, special menu items that are only available through January 1st:
- Holiday Ham and Sausage Omelette - Our fluffy omelette loaded with diced ham & sausage, fire roasted peppers & onions, hash browns and Cheddar cheese. Topped with more diced ham & sausage, peppers & onions, Cheddar cheese and White Cheddar cheese sauce. Served with 3 Buttermilk Pancakes or your choice of side.
- Jolly Cakes - Two fluffy green pancakes topped with sweet cream cheese icing, whipped topping and shimmery elf sprinkles.
- Oh What Funnel Cakes - Two golden, crispy funnel cakes, lightly dusted with powdered sugar and topped with glazed strawberries, whipped topping and shimmery elf sprinkles.
- Little Elves Combo - Choice of 1 Jolly Cake topped with cream cheese icing, whipped topping and sprinkles or 1 Oh What Funnel Cake topped with powdered sugar, whipped topping and sprinkles with 1 scrambled egg, 1 bacon strip and 1 pork sausage link.
- Merry Marshmallow Hot Chocolate - Rich hot chocolate flavored with toasted marshmallow syrup and topped with whipped topping and shimmery elf sprinkles.

My 6 year old enjoyed the Little Elves Combo (sprinkles on pancakes, mom!) and I tried the omelette. The colors were festive and his plate looked just like the picture: green pancakes, holiday sprinkles, whipped cream, and all. Plus, it even came with eggs and his choice of bacon or sausage (he's a bacon lover!).

Welcome Back Breakfast
IHOP invites guests across the country to join them in the world's largest Welcome Back Breakfast event, hosted especially for IHOP's special holiday guests: the Scout Elves. The breakfast celebration will kick off #ScoutElfReturnWeek on Friday, November 29th and continue through Sunday, December 1st. Children that visit participating IHOP locations will receive a special Elf-themed activity sheet with their meals. Kids Eat FREE
And, as if The Elf on the Shelf menu and Welcome Back Breakfast weren't exciting enough, kids ages 12 and under eat FREE with the purchase of one adult entree EVERY DAY from 4-10PM until January 1, 2020! The special menu items are included, so you bet we got our Jolly Cakes for FREE the other night.
We have IHOP locations by both Crossroads in Waterloo and the newer location in Cedar Falls by WalMart. Make sure you take the kids to pit stop for some fun holiday meals during your shopping trips or family outings this season. I bet they love The Elf on the Shelf menu as much as we did (and you can't beat Kids Eat FREE EVERY DAY)!
