Maple Lanes Bowling Center on University Avenue is the perfect place to bring the family for great fun, great food and to create memories to share! Bowling is America’s most participated in activity year after year and has always been considered “America’s Pastime” because it is something you can do at any age and for your entire life.
Maple Lanes has been in the Cedar Valley since 1958 and is one of only two remaining bowling centers in Waterloo-Cedar Falls now that Valley Park Lanes closed its doors. In the last 2 years there has been new ownership which has allowed the center to receive many major updates to make it more modern and an even more exciting atmosphere. As co-owner Rich Eighme says: “This isn’t your Grandpa’s bowling alley anymore!” And even with saying that Maple Lanes still has the largest Senior program in the state of Iowa so encourage your parents and grandparents to come join in on the fun! Some of the new renovations include: a complete remodel of the old Imperial Restaurant & Lounge to create the new Kingpin Bar & Grill. Kingpin is a great place to get away and watch the game with flat screens hanging on every wall and also features an updated food and drink menu!
For all of your bowling needs stop into the newly relocated Fran’s Pro Shop, which is considered to be one of the finest and biggest bowling pro shops in the Midwest! There have also been many updates as far as fresh drywall and paint, carpet, interior and exterior cleanliness and 46” flat screen monitors above every lane.

If you’re looking for a league to join Maple Lanes has one of the largest selections for all types of leagues in the state which includes: adult mixed/mens/womens/seniors and youth ages. In fact the next 10 week session of Maple’s Saturday morning youth bowling program begins February 8th at 9:00 am. There are 4 different groups to choose from that are divided up by age: Bumpers, 11&under, 12-14 and 15&older. The cost is only $7.50 per week for 3 games of competition and only $5.50 per week for bumper bowlers as they bowl 2 games instead of 3. There is also a one time registration fee of $13.00 which includes a bowling jersey and allows your child to be a member of bowling’s governing body, the United States Bowling Congress. This is also a great way to get your child involved in a social sport that everyone gets to participate in and keep in mind that bowling is the fastest growing high school sport in the U.S. with many colleges adding bowling and scholarship opportunities to there selection of sports. Unlike other youth sports like soccer, football, and wrestling, bowling is something you can continue to enjoy into adulthood and for the rest of your life.
If league bowling isn’t in your future at this time, consider bringing the family out for some open bowling or Shake, Rattle ‘N Bowl on Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 9 pm.
