You will need:
- Tempera paints in containers large enough to handle the sponges (I recycle plastic fruit cup bowls for this type of project)
- Pieces of natural sea sponges - found at most hobby stores
- Construction paper

Depending on the age of the child, you can either give them a theme to paint and then let their imaginations go wild, or for a smaller child, you can do a basic sketch in pencil and then let them fill it in with paint using the different sides of the sponges. There really isn't a right or wrong way to do this...just let their creative juices flow!
