Remember our Family Fun Jar we did back in January? Well, we are in the process of creating a summer one. The concept is to identify simple activities your family can do this summer. Our summer schedule may be hectic already, but making sure the kids experience the little things this summer is important. Those moments are what I remember vividly since 30-some years later.
Here are some of the activities we are thinking about:
- Pick our own strawberries.
- Visit a farmers market.
- Roast marshmallows and make smore's by a fire-pit.
- Catch fireflies to create a 'flashlight.'
- Make homemade ice cream.
- Create masterpieces using sidewalk chalk.
- Have a massive water fight.
- Play yard games.
- Create a summer scrapbook or journal.
- Make tie-dye shirts.
- Identify and hold board game night or afternoon.
- Run through the sprinklers.
- Family bike rides along the trails.
- Hold at least one family BBQ.
- Take a family canoe trip.
- Watch fireworks.
- See a parade.
- Have a picnic in a park.
- Visit the zoo.
- Visit a Lego store.
- Play mini-golf and go-karts.
- Visit the State Fair.
What are some of yours?
